Detailed description

Borden One-Shot H is a powdered urea formaldehyde resin glue designed for use in the temperate climates of the UK & Northern Europe, and is suitable for general joinery, cabinet work & shop fitting. It is used by simply mixing with water; the correct amount of hardener is already blended into the powder. The reconstituted mix is gap filling, moisture resistant adhesive capable of forming joints which satisfy the requirements of BS EN 302-1 A3 type II adhesive. The glue line is mould resistant & does not stain most varieties of timber.

Mixing Instructions

Use 2 parts O/S Home to 1 part cold water by weight. Dilution may be varied to adjust the viscosity though over dilution is not recommended. Put half water into container then add powder to the water, stirring rapidly until powder dissolves. Add the remainder of the water, stirring until smooth. Let the mixture stand for 3-5 minutes for the adhesive to thicken - O/S Home is now ready to use.

Typical Properties (mixed)

Pot LIfe @ 20C around 40-60 minutes

Press Time @ 20C around 3 hours

As pot life & press times are temperature dependant, any increase or decrease in ambient temperature will greatly affect these variables. The adhesive can be applied by brush, roller or hand applicator - application to both surfaces is recommended for hardwoods & particularly dense timbers.

Available in 25kg or 6kg Pack Sizes

Technical Properties

  • Cream coloured powder.
  • Viscosity value of 70P @20C
  • 3 years storage under cools & dry conditions.
  • Store in air tight container.
  • Ideally mix by weight.

Bonding Plastic Laminates

Borden O/S Home can be used to bond plastic laminates where resistance to high humidity is required (i.e. bath surrounds, sink units, vanity units) - it is essential to ensure adequate pressure is applied with either press or clamps.

Extra Speed with Separate Application Hardener

Shorter pressing times can be achieved with some constructions by the use of K10 a separate application hardener. Ideally for use in a cold press application, K10 is applied to one surface & neat adhesive to other surface - both surfaces are brought together under pressure until cured. A typical cure rate @ 20C is between 30 - 60 minutes. See K10 for more specific information.
