Earth Pigments

Earth Pigments

Detailed description

A range of natural earth pigments derived from earth & rocks. These pigments can be used in the tinting of UF resin systems to colour match wood veneers prior to hot or cold press applications. Helps minimise surface discolouration on porous or grainy veneers where adhesive has penetrated the veneer surface, leaving a streaky, grey line along grain structure, knot holes & other veneer imperfections. The pigments are non-soluble but remain in suspension offering an intensity of colour throughout the adhesive mix.

Colour range includes:

  • Titanium Dioxide (White) for use on light coloured veneer species (i.e Maple, Sycamore).
  • Lamp Black for use with dark veneer species (i.e. Ebony, Macassar, Walnut).
  • Burnt Sienna (Red) for use with mid range veneer species (i.e Cherry)
  • Yellow Ochre for use with light to mid range veneer species (i.e Oak)
  • Burnt Turkey Umber (Brown) for use with mid to dark range veneer species (i.e Mahogany, Walnut, Sapele)
  • Pigments can be mixed together to obtain suitable colour match.

Technical specification

Preparation & Mixing

It is always advisable to mix a small quantity of pigment with your UF resin mix to test the finished colour and overall effect prior to full production use.

  • MIx UF resin & hardener together in normal way & allow to stand for a few minutes.
  • Using a small scoop, slowly add pigment to glue mix stirring continuously.
  • Continue until desired colour or effect is obtained.
  • Use adhesive in normal way.

There is no exact quantity of pigment recommended to mix with your adhesive mix - these pigments have an intensity of colour so require only a small amount to obtain desired effect. Mix to taste!

Storage

These pigments in powder form keep well if stored in sealed airtight container in a cool, dry place. They have no recommended shelf life.

Safety

Do not inhale dust particles when mixing this product - wear suitable respiratory protection. Not suitable for mixing with PVA systems.
