Borden UH191 is a popular powder hardener providing the facility to vary the setting speed by adjusting the ratio of resin to hardener. The greater the amount of hardener added, the longer the pot life & setting times. Suitable for veneering, assembly & joinery work with hot or cold curing & radio frequency (RF) applications.
UH191 will tolerate the addition of a high level of Borden Extender 99 (10-20%) without impairing the strength of the bond. Other organic fillers or extenders can be used.
Cold Pressing - used mainly in the warm months of the year (i.e. spring & summer) for cold press applications, as it allows the user to vary the pot life & pressing cycle to suit their production requirements. For multiple layers, formwork, curve structures, etc choose a 10-15% mix ratio with UL39 Resin - this will allow a longer pot life for coating, laying up & pressing in platen or vacuum presses. Note that with extended pot life, the pressing cycle will be extended as well. As with UH21, prepare all substrates prior to mixing, mix only what is required for job in hand & work methodically until laminates/veneers are under pressure.
Hot Pressing - suitable for use with all Borden resin systems (i.e. F120 UL48 UL39) under hot press conditions. For porous veneers, the use of Borden Extender 99 in the mix, will help minimise penetration of adhesive through to the veneer surface.
Radio Frequency - suitable for RF gluing applications.
